The Michigan Small Business Development Center and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) produced one of the best publications available on starting a business – Guide to Starting and Operating a Small Business. This publication provides everything you need to know about starting a business from business plans to taxes and insurance.

MEDC provides business start-up assistance for individuals operating a business in Michigan.

The Michigan Small Business Development Center provides one-on-one confidential business counseling free of charge through the Dickinson Area Chamber of Commerce. An appointment may be made directly with Lance Wolfe, MSBDC certified small business consultant at (906) 399-2647.
