Sonnenburg Achieves Certification as Fellow of AAOA
Dr. Robert Sonnenburg of Northern Lights Clinic has achieved his Fellowship with the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy (AAOA). Fellows of the AAOA are Board Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology.
"Allergy is an important part of our practice at Northern Lights Clinic," Dr. Sonnenburg explained. "It is key to getting to the root of the cause of many diseases related to ear, nose and throat medicine. Moving forward with completing a Fellowship in Allergy demonstrates a commitment to providing the highest quality care to my patients and is fundamental to my focus as an otolaryngic physician."
"I encounter allergic conditions on a regular basis," he continued. "In addition, immunologic conditions affecting the ears, salivary glands, thyroid, and lymphatic system are included in this scope of study."

The AAOA Fellow Examination is a rigorous test broken down into oral and written examinations.

Finance Fundamentals Workshop offered at Bay College’s West Campus
The M-TEC at Bay College is offering the workshop Finance Fundamentals for the Non-Financial Manager at its Iron Mountain campus. The workshop is designed for small business owners, office managers, decision makers, bookkeepers, existing and aspiring entrepreneurs, and non-profit administrators who would like to gain a better understanding of their organization’s finances. Participants will explore key financial concepts in a real world environment with topics such as: how to make sense out of financial statements, how to use financial ratios to help fine tune your business, methods to help the decision process when faced with choosing between alternatives, understanding what a business is worth, and how to establish a functional budget. The eight hour workshop will be held on May 8 and 15 from 9 am – 1:00 pm, local time. Ron Miaso, of Delta Business Solutions and who has held positions in corporate finance at a major Fortune 500 Corporation, is the instructor. Cost of the workshop is $125. Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship Program Slated for May 19th
Mr. James DeMarcado of the Office of Registered Apprenticeship will be on hand at the Comfort Inn, Manistique at 4:00 PM to provide information on how regional businesses can tap in to registered apprenticeships as a way to build a pipeline of skilled workers.
Mr. DeMarcado will be sharing best practices and methods used to create programs to train workers while they are on the job.
Information about apprenticeships provided will include how:

Special Events Walk Downtown Iron Mountain Iron Mountain
A new event is coming to Downtown Iron Mountain. Thursday, May 22nd from 4-8PM.
Grand prize at the Special Events Walk is a $500 BP Gas Card. Mystery prizes including downtown dollars, hanging flower baskets and other items will be given out throughout the event.
